Our Impact

The College's Impact

Solano Community College will remain at the heart of the county's future economic success and the overall health of our community for the next 100 years because of the generosity and participation of our alumni, donors, and partners who have helped the College provide this education in increasingly innovative and enriching ways to students.

Gifts to the College make a significant impact, helping local students succeed. SCC is an affordable pathway to a four-year university or to a good-paying technical career. Students from all backgrounds can major in a large number of career fields. The College has a rich history of providing workforce training to meet the needs of local industry, from apprenticeship programs that supported Mare Island Naval Base in decades past to biotechnology programs that support the biotech industry cluster in Vacaville. In fact, SCC is just one of 15 elite community colleges in California to award Bachelor's degrees.

For seven decades, Solano Community College has improved our community through the power of education and workforce training. Today, higher education is more important than ever. New jobs require an educated workforce that SCC can provide.

SCC is the number one college choice for Solano County residents. Approximately 12,800 local students attend SCC, including approximately 1,200 first-time freshmen from local high schools each year.
 
In 2023-24:
  • 20% of students were first-generation college students (or first in their family to attend college)
  • 46% of students received a California state fee waiver
  • 21% of students received a federal Pell Grant
  • 12% of students were special admit High School students
  • 9% of students were incarcerated
  • 7% of students received services/support through the Basic Needs Center
 

SCC is a part of the California Community College system, which is one of the most efficient higher education programs in the US. 

The Economic Impact

The Foundation's Impact

Since 2013, the Foundation has provided $4.5 million to support the College, including

  • Over $1.4 million in restricted fund donations to departments and programs
  • $644,000 for student scholarship awards/stipends
  • $160,000 in unrestricted funds
  • $66,000 for the establishment of the Alumni Association

In addition, the Foundation has provided $718,000 to produce outreach and fundraising events and generated $461,000 to support Foundation activities.
